More RO diaster

Post by seaponygirl on Mon Nov 04, 2013 5:16 pm

So Folks, we have learned that when you first start a RODI water holing system you should..
!. Not trust your brother when he says it will only make about 5 gallons a day.
2. Put a lid on your container so when you have it next to the washer, the washer doesn't shake the bottle
of detergent into the water.

Now 3. Make sure the outlet hose is ACTUALLY IN the container. The basement floor is not a good surface
to retrieve said waters.

Stay tuned

Yeah most RO units are 75 Gallons Per Day... Detergent is NOT reef safe... Basements do hold water, but it is usually a little too much to be used as an RODI reservoir. Also it probably isn't as clean as you'd like for adding water to the tank. However get enough water in the basement and you could order a bulk shipment of salt and have one heck of a large saltwater reef tank Wink

The best thing I have ever done regarding RODI units is purchase the automatic shutoff from BRS. It has saved me many times by killing the RODI supply line when a leak is detected. It is well worth the money, that's for sure. Link is below:

That would work, if my problem was leaking from the line. Mine just dumps water for other reasons. No way for it to detect it's overflowing, well that one time. But then I was trying to use a 5 gallon bucket overnight.

I'll have to look into that, but knowing my past history that would malfunction too.
