Grand Rapids has a bit to do. They must have some lakes or something you could go camping at or do something. They even have the Judy Garland museum if yer a Wizard of Oz fan.

Virginia Rocks! I can't tell you the fun because I would probably miss out on all the exciting things to do here as I take them for granted on the downside though no pet shops here our last one went out of business a while ago. There are some nice shoppes and if yer coming during the weekend of June 20-21st the land of the Loon festival will be going on. (craft fair but it's got decent fair type foods gotta try Barb's fried bread at least once in your life for it to be complete) And brace yourself...you can see the world's largest.....loon. It has graced the pages of the Guiness book of world records...thats right the real live(well maybe not live) largest duck decoy in the world...in the fine town of Virginia floating on Silver lake (take out of course for the LoL parade). Eveleth (3 miles away) has the US hockey hall of fame, the worlds largest hockey stick and puck combo. Honestly if you come to Virginia you have access to Chisolm (Ironworld and the Minnesota Museum of mining) Hibbing, Eveleth, Tower, Soudan (soudan Underground Mine) all within 30 a 30 minute drive. Ely (gateway to the BWCA) is only about an hour away and they have some really nice little shops

On the Bemidji side Itasca state Park is really great. I'm kinda a nerd about historical stuff both human history and NAtural and there are a ton of interesting things there with regards to those. Plus how many people can say they walked across the Mississippi river without getting their feet wet without a bridge being involved. (Headwaters of the river are in the park and you can walk across the river on rocks at the start)

Bring your bikes and bike around lake Bemidji! There's cool shops here in Bemidj too as well as two pet stores and at least three reefers who's tanks you can look at. There are beautiful camping opportunities and a ton of lakes with fish waiting to be caught. There's more. I'll be back. Very Happy
